Recycling doesn’t actually help. Most of American recycling gets sent to other countries to the point where there are places covered so much that you can’t see the ground. I imagine other countries do something similar, but I haven’t done any research for those cause America is problem enough on its own. If companies don’t stop using single use plastics, it’s only going to get worse, not that it isn’t already horrible anyway.
I think in the game world humans decided to create a bunch of robots and large, closed off cities in order to survive global warming. Clearly they didn’t last long, probably due to the mentioned plagued. Though I’m more so curious as to how they were able to create these giant cities without kicking a whole bunch of people out of their homes. It definitely would have given a lot of people jobs. It’s possible these cities were built in already dug holes, like those giant mines they got around the world in order to dig for metals and diamonds and such. Though the fact they decided to create giant bunkers instead of shutting down oil companies and the such either means they’re assholes or they did do that and they realized that global warming was still getting worse. But seeing as how if global warming was still getting worse even after they did all they could to stop it that the world would most likely be covered in sand and not vegetation, I’m guessing they were just assholes. Granted, it also suggested that millions of years had passed so perhaps the planet had time to grow vegetation again, but how did the metal encasing the city survive that long? I noticed that the ceiling door thingy was very rusty and a whole bunch of pieces were falling off as it opened, but anything would erode after millions of years. The robots continuing to exist after that long is also somewhat unbelievable seeing as how they would eventually break down and may have some spare parts but they wouldn’t have an infinite source of metal or wires or the equipment to mend themselves, especially with the Zurks overrunning the Slums and restricting their access to the rest of the city and eating the metal. (I also don’t know why the Zurks didn’t just eat everything in the vicinity unless the hive mind specifically wants to get rid of anything sentient or living for whatever reason.) But as much as I wish things always made sense, they don’t, and it’s a game so it doesn’t have to follow all the laws of nature. So this scenario is unrealistic, but in a realistic way, if that makes sense.
The humans most likely all died out because of the plague or they went to space or did something stupid. They weren’t able to procreate enough to continue to human race whether that be they chose not to, people became infertile because of sickness or time, or everyone transferred their minds into robots. And the robots probably didn’t create new robots because there weren’t anymore humans to transfer into them or they simply don’t have the materials or they just don’t want to. I’m most curious about the fact that there are kid robots. They aren’t short or anything, but some of the robots referred to other robots as “adult”. I’m unsure whether this is because they decided to mimic a child like others had been mimicking painters or vaping or eating (even though robots don’t have mouths to do either) among other things humans did. How much are they “mimicking” humans and how much are they actually just doing what they once did? I’m very curious to see if they are actually humans in robot bodies who forgot their memories after so long or if they merely mimic their past human friends/society to the point where them being humans in robot bodies doesn’t seem that unbelievable.
It’s a simple story with deep thought provoking subject matter. And even at the end there is still so much mystery. Like there is more questions now at the end than we had at the beginning. Like what the absolute heck was those eyeballs, or if cats survived, what else survived on the surface? Absolutely brilliant storytelling. Also i looked it up, if you collected all the memories you get a new coat for the cat and an achievement.
I wanna see Momo again😭😭😭
The ceiling opening was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen in a video game
Absolutely love every part of this game!!
Fun fact: the cat in this game is based off the co creators real cat named murtaugh also known as “the boss” by people around him
truly a fitting nickname 🙂
You telling me we don’t see the cats reunite? That would make a good sequel, getting back to your cat family.
But we dont know if the cat met back up with the other cats
It would be cool if there was a dlc where you look for your family again
Fantastic game. Saddening that B/12 couldn’t continue on to the end but I understand how hard it would translate afterwards.
1:11:22 oh no they imprisoned him in a 3d printer
The cat is definitely a robot did no one see its eyes at the end
You should play endling
At the end Jack was dissapointed that they didnt show us a panorama of the outside but i would much prefer to see our CAT REUNITED with his FAMILY from the start :/ dissapointed slightly
Been a long time since I have this feeling after finishing you play a game jack. Nostalgic and comforting although it’s a very bittersweet ending.
Indie game of the year!!
I think the reason why Ginger doesn’t reunite with his family at the end is to give them something to continue on with in the sequel.
Because we all know a game like this is definitely going to have a sequel, because you’ve got some insane potential here that can go just about anywhere, whether it’s a sequel or prequel 🙂
27:55 This Could Be my Wallpaper the view is just astonishing
O
the ending makes me so feel so happy and satisfied. Also i feel like it builds on a sequel where our cat meets up with other fellow cats and form like a party and explore more of the surface, along with B-12 maybe.
