They had the chance to turn this into a movie only but turning it into a game with insane visuals makes the experience more memorable. The open world concept as well, able to roam around and interact with bots and entities is clever. The best part of it is, you play as a cat! Who would’ve thought that?

Also the bots being sentient and aware and taking over the place where humans left kind of reminds me of Scrap Mechanic Survival mode.

“a whole country blows up due to global warming, not sure how that would happen”

In the lore of Horizon Zero Dawn a couple countries fall into the ocean due to rising water levels and erosion. They did manage to keep parts of California floating for a while but huge chunks of that are even still under water after terraforming.

IDK I think the HZD apocalypse is the most believable apocalypse I’ve ever seen/heard of. Oligarchy and corporate greed eventually gets us to robots that use biomatter as fuel and can fix themselves and replicate themselves and then we lose control of the AI. Also humanity waited so long to “fix” things that they couldn’t fix them after all. Had to just wait for the machines to eat all biomatter/life and then have another AI terraform the world back to normal and make new humans.

How much of the temperature is caused by humans? No one has answered. The overall temperature of the globe has always been increasing. in fact it, the increase is slowing. Is that our fault? Nothing but control fear mongering. Same as raft.

This had to be one of the best video games this year, such a unique concept done spectacularly well, I just really wish we were able to see the world outside at the end.
