Colion please review youtube video ( The Wide World of U.S. gun culture) broadcast by NBC News. The young lady and the host are the only 2 sane people in the video. I lost a gun while pocket carrying, I sat down and it slipped out.
Thankfully it was quickly found by the owners of the establishment and I was able to get it, very red faced, from the police.

I have NEVER carried without a holster since then. Period.

Don’t be an idiot like I was, I lucked out and only lost my dignity. It could have been worse. BUY A HOLSTER.

Um… err… still plenty of ADs and NDs with holsters. Defensive handguns need a heavy trigger pull, if only for the first shot, and ideally an external hammer or a Striker Control Device if you have a Glock so your thumb is on the hammer/SCD to prevent a discharge if pressure is applied to the trigger. A safety catch is also desirable, especially on a striker fired pistol like the S&W M&P9 that has a light trigger pull and no external hammer or SCD.

Growing up in South Sacramento, all the gang members would carry their guns their down their pants pointed at their groin. Most were stupid, but at the same time smart enough not to carry with a round in the chamber. However, when bullets started to fly some learned the hard why you should not do either.

look, i’m not disputing the nature of this video, BUT, if you’re not going to use a holster, don’t load a godamn round in the chamber! i carry a glock 19 sometimes w/o a holster, but when i do, i dont carry with a round in the chamber because THERE IS NO SAFETY ON THESE WEAPONS MORONS!! YES, carry a weapon hot in a holster, but if you don’t, don’t carry hot. i know this runs contrary to everything 2A, but don’t shoot your dick off or your dog! holster it, or carry cold. period.

lol….. I remember a NYPD cop that was sitting in his private car while waiting for his child to get out of elementary school admiring his Glock 19 with a 12 pound trigger pull. As he tried to re-holster his weapon his finger was on the trigger and he sent a round through his groin.
Note to all….If you have a inside the waist holster and not very proficient with it, remove said holster, insert gun, then place back into position upon your body.
As for gun going off with a holster and no finger or obstruction….. only know of one case. About 35 years ago in Upstate New York a hunter had his .44 Magnum Hunting Pistol in a shoulder holster and while walking it fell out. His buddy behind him took one between the eyes and was DOA. He was charged with manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon as he was not licensed to own a pistol in New York State. If it was a lawfully owned pistol it would have been deemed an accident.
