I admit I used to do this but never with a round in the chamber. I once pulled my chambered pistol from my pants and the safety had been kicked off from moving around in my waistband. That was a wake-up call. I stopped carrying chambered until I finally bought a good holster.

But you see,, if you don’t have a round in the chamber, OR your gun is a double action only, OR the hammer isn’t cocked,, you CAN safely carry a gun in your pocket or in your waist band without a holster.
It’s only the “cocked and locked” IDIOTS who shoot themselves.

Yea, I’ve never been able to waistband carry because of “shootmyselfaphobia”. Just gives me a creepy feeling. Waist carry with a holster is a little inconvenient and uncomfortable. Ankle holsters are worse. I use a pocket holster for my little rugar. 380 and shoulder holster or a fanny pack for the big guns. Yes, i went and bought and tried everything to learn this the expensive way….

Many people accidentally fire their gun while trying to catch it right after they drop it. Learn to let your gun drop without grabbing at it. Quit worshipping its finish and cosmetic condition.
