Thanks for the spoiler warning. Remember where I left off yahtzee.
I’ll be back.
As is often the case Yahtzee delivers where a game does not
Kinda hits it home for me, the game feels like it was made on the premise of “you run around as a cat” and it just beggs the question “and….?” It feels like half a game, like what we are actually supposed to do in game to have fun was never put in.

Well technically there is “Gato Roboto,” in which you play as a normal cat. The catch is that the normal cat is in a setting that includes mech suits that are designed to be operated by animals. There’s also a somewhat reasonable science fiction explanation for this.
I just got my wisdom teeth out and you’re right the squirrels are dicks
I think this is funniest Yahtzee’s been in a while
I like it
I really enjoyed this game. Yeah, the premise is odd, but what videogame doesn’t have an odd premise? Literally name any game and I’ll point out how odd the premise is.
While Beyonce is editing the word spaz (and other things) out of her music, he Yahtzee is doubling down on it
sooo it was a good game,
good game
I’ll definitely get this game. But I’ll wait until it hits my preferred Steam price range of 50-75% off.
I wonder if Yahtzee’s played timelie.
Half of it is playing a cat.
Stray is a game that really makes you FEEL like a cat. As in maybe you’ll finish it, maybe you won’t, but you do whatever you damn well please and no one is going to convince you otherwise no matter how much they try to make you feel sorry about it.
Yahtzee clearly doesn’t own a cat, or else he would know that a bellyrub is a death sentence 95% of the time. Head scratches, chin rubs, wuffles (depending on the cat) and back scratches are much less likely to result in your arm getting shredded because you thought it was a good idea to put your hand in the cat’s version of a bear trap.
I put more time than I care to admit tripping up the robots.
You get cute little badges for your cat harness.
The core gameplay mechanic is: I am cat.
Terrible review, youre putting down the game for the cat not having the capacity to have emotion nor understand whats going on yet it is a game about a cat helping literal robots escape a walled city and the cat does way more than a cat would ever do in the context of real life. It is a video game, you missed the point and showed your ignorance by saying the game is missing the point, its not supposed to be realistic and youre probably not fun at parties Yahtzee.
For some reason, the terminator wearing multiple oversized hats is one of the funniest things to me
I like Stray as a fun “I get to be a cat, and also there’s a plot going on” sort of unwindy thing, but I did feel as if, by playing as the cat, we’re basically playing as the escort character or a car in a GTA game? Only the game wants us to think the cat is important? The drone is the one that can actually communicate, has an investment in the world around it, has a type of character arc, and would have a reason to collect things and befriend the other robots. Great, that all makes sense, we should be invested in the drone, it’s a character with a backstory and motivations and emotions of some sort.
But we play as the cat. And the only reason the cat would act the way it does is because we, a human, are telling it to so that the robots and the drone can actually have the story, because we as a human have that sentience and motive and emotional investment. The way…the drone does…who we carry around silently in a pack for large chunks of the game. And that felt odd after awhile. It felt odd to play as the only character in the game that really had no reason to have investment in the larger story past “get back to my siblings that I saw a bit 3 hours ago. Because I am a cat, and that’s as deep as my backstory was going to get.”
My expectations for this game were “I want to be a cat and do cat things” while my friends were expecting Cyberpunk 2077. Guess who enjoyed the game more.
