I mean, you do get a badge if you collect all the music, but then again you have to collect *all* the music to even learn of the badge’s existence, so I can’t exactly fault Yahtz for missing it.

There was a game 4 years ago called Cat Tales that is an rpg where you play as a cat/cats, so Stray isn’t the first

Not often I completely disagree with ol’ Benny boy, but I actually really liked the game. The contrasts where sharp, the music was lovely, the emotional points where felt quite strongly by me, but then again, I am a cat person and I really liked the way the robots had no idea what the hell you where and just assumed you could understand them, and the fact that we the player could understand them and have the cat do what was asked, by accident or not, was really cool to m. But I can see why the game doesn’t resonate with everyone.

To be fair: the cat did have some reaction to both being thrown through a door and told to go on by itself AND when the squeaky toy did its thing at the end (to the point that it became a place you could sleep! – the most important thing a cat can do in real life you know). So the cat did care, at least a little, at least until it got the fcuk out and go chill again with its cat bros (or smack them for leaving it behind). So, all in all, an unrealistic game about a cat!

I appreciate that a lot of people like this game, but I didn’t play it because I expected it to be pretty much what it is. A fairly shallow gameplay experience (gameplay, I am not saying the GAME is shallow, I haven’t played it so I can’t speak to that) featuring a cute cat and pretty environments with plenty of tugging of the heartstrings in ways that I don’t connect with.

There actually is another game where you play as a cat, unfortunately that is a big spoiler for the very ending of the game so I cannot say its name, don’t wanna spoil my favorite game

In FF7R you can play every bit of combat as a frog in NG+. So, we COULD get Cat Cloud in the future if they implemented a cat transformation.

stray was beautiful, people are kinda missing the point that its a fantasy game in the far future wheree humans are extinct.
besides the whole game goes on the whole premise of “what is intelligence and conciousnesss” saying “well youre just a cat” is missing the point.
We can all assume Stray was far smarter than it lets on, because if it was really “just a cat” the moment it fell off that pipe and ssaw monsters itd probably either die of starvation or just sleep someewhere for 4 days. This criticism is just that “ohh wow game didnt stroke my obvious expectations of what a cat game should be like therefore its shit”

yatz you fell for your own cynicism in this one.
