Didn’t Niantic just can 4 AR projects and let go 8% of the staff because they haven’t been able to make a decent game since Pokemon go? Now they want to kill what’s left of the only game that actually semi kinda works. And if what some people here are saying is true and over 50% of people are spoofing. This game is going to be a ghost town. Have fun raiding then.

Spoofing shouldnt be illegal 🤷🏻‍♂️

The main reason why people are upset with it is kicking out of gyms and pvp. In the main game the server can tell If the pokemon was caught legit or not and simply ban it from pvp. The pokemon, not the player.

Almost every spoofer i know spends tons of money every month in the game. I dont think those players will do this anymore without it. 🤷🏻‍♂️
If you look in the communities over in Facebook youll see how many players actual spoof. They arent just a little number 🙈

I think niantic will break down in terms of profit and many people will regret complaining when prices raise. 😂

Niantic is very incompetent from the very its their fault spoofers in the first place, niantic has always been unfair towards rural players while prioritizing the major cities instead. In addition it is due to Niantics incompetence that pkmn Go’s initial hype died down they only implemented the sought after features like raids, trading and pvp when the game is pretty much dead. I played Go way back in its launch I am one of the many where we waited for my regions server to release I firmley remember that everybody in my highschool with a smartphone plays PoGo. And right now during the mewtwo raids niantic doesn’t even consider to put the raid passes on the weekly boxes for two weeks which is very infuriating because thats the only way for us free to play to get more than one raid pass pretty much niantic indirectly incentivises us the players to whale for raid passes instead which is no way in HELL I would give niantic my money. the only redeeming factor of PoGo is that you cant transfer your pokemon to main games which I will be doing. Boycott Niantic

Have never spoofed, would never spoof. I value my little virtual pets too much. 🙂 But I am concerned about automated technology flagging people unjustly. So, some questions I hope you’ll answer Billy:

1) What about PokeGenie and PokeRaid? I use them all the time. Am I in danger?

2) I have people in my friends list that send gifts from different places (they probably spoof), I’ve probably been invited to a spoofed raid, and what if someone spoofed to you to trade? How would I know?

3) The game is glitchy. My avatar has wandered fairly far from home (GPS drift), and has also gotten “stuck” somewhere (like the park) after I left and drove home. What distances are flagged as being spoofed?

I’m fine with Niantic banning true violaters. But people who cheat will always find other ways to cheat, and folks that don’t mean to often get punished instead. I hope they have safeguards in place and a speedy appeal system for people if they were wrongfully banned.

Thanks for explaining and warning people. I didn’t exactly know how it worked in the first place. 🙂

The fact that they made it completely unbalanced for people in rural areas is what made spoofing so alluring. When you only get pidgeys and rattatas for weeks on end, I get wanting to spoof to Tokyo or Zaragoza for almost anything else thats almost certainly better. I just recommend using a proxy profile to acquire the pokemon you want/need from elsewhere and trading them to your main profile. I can agree that region locking was a terrible idea from the gate, and I can absolutely see the logic behind allowing it for those who are physically disabled and cant get out as easily as most players.

Wow, after reading many comments, I can’t believe the mentality of the PoGo “community.” Apparently, there are SO many reasons why spoofing is necessary (practically a MUST if you want to get the most out of your game) that It seems Niantic is completely out-of-line! Amazed, I’m just really amazed. :

soooo trainer club. how does this affect those that got one of your gotchas. i been considering it but now…. will niantic just hire you as a spokes person. all pogo info i find out thru you anyways. niantics 😕 confusing

It’s also unfair advantage because the game promotes people with big pockets to pay for shop items and able to travel around the world flexing about the pokemon they get I feel like those people are toxic too. The game is unfair from the start if you have money you can get everything in the game.

If you want to spoof that’s fine by me, there is no financial advantage to it. Not everyone wants to get together especially after covid. I looked at at & there was no way I would download software from a third party site that was potentially malicious onto my phone. I think Niantic are missing an income revenue here. They should set up a premium account (Say £10 per month) where you can opt out of catch screens, Xp bonuses & include a offcial spoofing mechanism with some limitations. Say 30 mins a day in one location of your choice?

When you are below to age of 18, YOU CANT GO WHERE EVER YOU WANT, im sorry but you have to take into account that some of us cant travel, or even drive to a gym 5 minutes away. Spoofing makes the game more fun, exciting, and it keeps you on your toes. And where you live in the middle of nowhere playing a kids game as a kid you cant go to fricken berlin

I do spoof for regionals and shinys to trade, raid, events and help anyone needs help.
Niantic brings spoofing into the game for a 10 dollars a month they would make lots of money and get new players into the game.

1st. Many many many people do not have the money to be able to travel to play a video game, A VIDEO GAME…
2nd. Putting aside youtubers and those who get money from playing this game, between spoofers and non-spoofers, I think spoofers spend wwwwaaaayyyyy more money on the game than anyone else…
3rd. Those who spend A LOT of money on traveling to play the game and do not get what they want, shinies and shodows, are the ones who are mad the most and support niantic on this topic. HATERS…

I understand spoofing defeats the main purpose of the game such as going out on adventures and stuff. But in the business point of view, Niantic will def see some lose of money from this ban-wave…
